Background information:

Edward^7 L. (probably for Leverich) Van Wickel (David^6, Jr., David^5, Frederick^4, Evert^3, Gerrit^2, Jentie^1 Jeppes) was b. 1825, Newtown, L.I., NY and d. 26 October 1883 and bur. DRC, Newtown. His first m. was to Charlotte _______ (b. 1831, d. 15 May 1882, bur. DRC, Newtown. No information available on issue. His second m. was to Hannah R. Simmons (no b. or d. dates). (Although the information received and posted here has Charlotte and the first wife and Hannah as the second, the 1860, 1870 and 1880 US Census data in source section below suggests just the opposite. Difficult to determine who the mother is for each child: presumably, Hannah is the mother of Marion, David, Lottie, and Addie)

Children: Marion^8 F. Van Wickel (b. 7 July 1849, d. 24 October 1849 in infancy) and bur. DRC, Newtown; David P. Van Wickel b. 28 November 1851, Corona, NY and died 11 November 1927 in Old Greenwich (formerly South Beach), CT. David married Anita Armentaro Sperry. They had a child Edward Sperry Van Wickel who married Ella Jennings. Their union resulted in three children: Anita Irene Van Wickel, Marietta Van Wickel, and Edward Lansing Van Wickel; Alletta^8 D. "Lottie" Van Wickel (b. Oct. 1856, Corona, NY). It appears from the 1880 US Census below that she may have married Arthur Lyman; Adeline "Addie" DeVoe Van Wickel b. 22 June 1858, Corona, NY and died 15 May 1913 in Old Greenwich (formerly South Beach), CT. She is buried in the cemetery of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich on South Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich, CT. She married William Henry Hammond.

Hope Kenney provided the information (sent from Suzanne Levin) on David P. and Addie DeVoe Van Wickel by email (1/15/01). She is the great granddaughter of Addie DeVoe Van Wickel and the vital stats for David and Addie are taken from death certificates. There is also a sketch of John P. VanWickel, b. 1862 in Corona contained in "Portrait and Biographical Record of Queens County (Long Island) New York. Containing Portraits and Sketches of Prominent and Representative Citizens of the County." 1986 Chapman Publishing Company. In an email dated 16 January 2001, Suzanne Levin sent the information on David P. Van Wickel's wife and descendents. Edward Sperry Van Wickel is Suzanne's great grandfather and Anita Irene Van Wickel is her grandmother.
